Language Difficulties Faced by Saudi Diploma Students at King Abdulaziz University: A Case Study

This study aimed to explore the language difficulties faced by English diploma students and provide solutions overcome them. The data collected in form of a questionnaire administered 39 female were compared percentages for closed – ended questions thematically open-ended ones. Results showed that struggled with listening, speaking reading’s higher cognitive skills such as guessing meaning from context reading between lines. In addition, tenses, question formations, reported speech most difficult grammatical points These challenges attributed institutional, dispositional, situational, academic, pedagogical barriers adult learners resulting mainly students’ gaps their lack contact language. Solutions included use more varied activities up -to -date interesting passages, practice listening inside outside classrooms, having placement test before joining program.
